Notate adds an assistant that works over your own notes. It comes with the AI plan, or on the Sync plan with [your own Anthropic key](https://notate.md/docs/ai/bring-your-own-keys/).

## Chat with your notes

Ask a question in plain language and the assistant answers from your workspace, using semantic search to find the relevant notes. Answers include **cited sources**, links to the notes it drew from, so you can verify every claim.

## Commands

Type `/` in the assistant to pull up a command catalog: create a note, move or rename one, add tags, build a folder, or generate a summary, all without leaving the chat. Actions that change your notes ask for confirmation first.

## Your notes stay yours

The assistant reads and edits the same plain markdown files you already own. Nothing about your notes' format changes.
