Notate keeps every AI feature under your control, so you decide exactly which ones run. AI comes with the AI plan, or on the Sync plan with [your own provider keys](https://notate.md/docs/ai/bring-your-own-keys/). Either way, AI is turned off and hidden while end-to-end encryption is on.

## Turn AI on or off

Open **Settings → AI Features**. A master **AI Features** toggle turns all AI on or off at once. Leave it off and none of the features below run.

## Choose which features run

With AI on, you can enable each feature on its own:

- **Inline completions**, with a completion style of **Continue Writing**, **Markdown Assist**, or **Brief**, plus an adjustable delay.
- **Continue Writing**, **Select-and-Rewrite**, **Summarize**, and **Auto-Tag Suggestions**.
- **Image Descriptions** and **Semantic Search**.
- **AI Assistant Chat**, which needs **Semantic Search** on.
- **Audio Notes**.

## Auto-approve destructive actions

When the chat can take actions for you, **Auto-Approve Destructive Actions** lets you pre-approve specific ones, such as moving notes to trash, deleting folders, rewriting a note, or renaming things, so it does not ask each time. Leave them off to be asked every time.

## On mobile

Mobile adds a **Wi-Fi only image uploads** option so image uploads wait for Wi-Fi.
