Your account protects the notes you sync to the cloud, so Notate gives you strong ways to secure it.

## Two-factor authentication

Turn on **two-factor authentication (2FA)** in Settings to require a one-time code from an authenticator app when you sign in. Notate gives you backup codes at setup, so keep them somewhere safe in case you lose your device.

## Other account controls

Notate has separate guides for the rest of your account security: [changing your password](https://notate.md/docs/account/change-password/), reviewing your [active sessions and devices](https://notate.md/docs/account/active-sessions/), and turning on [end-to-end encryption](https://notate.md/docs/account/encryption/).
