Change your password
You can change your account password at any time from Settings.
Change your password
Open Settings → My Account and choose Change next to Password. Enter your current password, then your new one. Notate checks that your new password is strong enough before saving it.
What happens next
For your security, changing your password signs you out on your other devices, so you will sign in again there with the new password. If you have end-to-end encryption turned on, only your password changes, and you keep the same recovery phrase.
Forgot your password?
If you can’t sign in, use the Forgot password link on the sign-in screen to reset it by email. The link expires after an hour and works once.
Resetting is also how you take your account back if someone else may have used it, so it goes further than a change:
- It signs you out on every device.
- It revokes all of your API tokens, so an AI client connected over MCP stops working until you create a new token for it.
If Notate support resets your password for you, you’ll get the same email. Your current password keeps working until you choose a new one.
