Keyboard shortcuts and the command palette

Last updated

Notate is built for the keyboard, on web and desktop, so you can move without reaching for the mouse.

Keyboard shortcuts

Open Settings → Keyboard Shortcuts for a filterable, read-only list of every command and its current key binding. Type to filter the list when you are looking for a specific action or want to learn what a key does.

The command palette

Press Cmd/Ctrl+P to open the command palette, a launcher that lets you run any command or jump to a note without leaving the keyboard. Start typing to narrow the results, then press Enter to run.

The palette also carries the view controls: switching to Editor, Split, Live, or Preview, and toggling line numbers and frontmatter. On desktop those sit in the View menu as well.

Formatting from the keyboard

The formatting marks have their own bindings, so you never have to reach for a toolbar.

Cmd/Ctrl+/ opens the selection toolbar over whatever you have selected, and selects the word under the cursor if you have selected nothing. Alt+F10 moves focus into an open toolbar so the arrow keys can walk its buttons. See Formatting as you write.
